NIGERIAN OIL WORKERS DRAGS HILONG TO COURT FOR INHUMAN TREATMENT

A Chinese oil drilling firm operating in the Niger Delta, Hilong Energy Services Limited has been dragged to the National Industrial Court of Nigeria sitting in Port Harcourt by workers over the firms inhuman treatment meted out to its Nigerian -employees.

In an interview with one of the aggrieved personnel he told Massmediablog how they were subjected to work under inhuman conditions and accused the firm of anti labour practices such as denying Nigerian workers leave, Medical, and pensions. He further lamented the firms refusal to pay them their entitlements and payoff in line with industry practice.

A further investigation by our reporter reveal that Hilong Nigeria is a subsidiary of Hilong Group based in China. The company operates drilling rigs all over the world with a strong presence in Nigeria.
